The Norfolk Island Bowling Club, IS CONSIDERING conducting an Open Pairs Tournament every November. This tournament WOULD HOPEFULLY BOAST the inclusion of a number of famous, elite level “celebrity” players with some of the players from around the world .
The aim of the tournament is to give club players a chance to test themselves against proven International players in an Open event where any combination of men and women can compete.
This competition is limited to only 64 teams. Format is 3 bowl pairs played under the “sets” format with eight (8) sections playing preliminary rounds (7 games) -depending on entries. The top four teams in each section will make up the final 32 teams which will be seeded from the preliminary results, to progress to the Knockout stage.

Ryan Bester – Canadian Achievements: 2008 – World Bowls Championship Singles, BRONZE 2006 – Singles, BRONZE 2005 – Asia Pacific Championships Singles, GOLD Bester was the reigning world pair’s champion until January 2008, claiming the title at the 2004 World Bowls Championship where at 19 he was the youngest player competing.
Karen Murphy - Australian Karen Murphy made her debut for Australia in 1997 and has since been a regular member of the Australian team, competing in three Commonwealth Games, five Asia Pacific events and two world championships. Her achievements in singles include winning the WIBC Under-25 World Indoor Championship in 1999, finishing third in the singles at the 2000 Women's World Bowls Championship, collecting a singles silver medal at the 2002 Commonwealth Games and winning the Australian singles title in 2003. She has also won the Golden Nugget Prestige Invitation singles five times. 2005 – Asia Pacific Championships –GOLD Medalist –Pairs 2006 – Commonwealth Games – Gold Medalist – Pairs 2007 – Asia Pacific – Gold Medalist Pairs 2008 – World Bowls Championships – Gold Medalist – Fours.
Kay Moran - Scotland Achievements: – As of 1st May, Kay is ranked 11th on the World Bowls Ranking List 2008 – Played for Scotland in World team Cup in Australia 2006 - Commonwealth Games, SILVER 2006 - Atlantic Rim Games, GOLD Kay is a three-time winner of the Glasgow Singles Championship Kay is also a member of the 2005 European Teams Championship winning side
Eric Johannes - ex South Africa Eric has won many singles and pairs tournaments in the Sydney and South Coast NSW region since taking up residence in Australia. Eric is one of the areas most respected coaches – particularly for kids and younger adults. Achievements: 2006 - Commonwealth Games – BRONZE - Triples 2006 – Winner of Tri nations with Australia and Great Britain 2005 – South African Masters, BRONZE
Rocky Stone - Australian Rocky has played 6 tests for NSW and has recently been selected in the State Reserve side. Rocky won the title for The Super Club Championship, which is contested across Australia, involving each club fielding a team of seven - a singles competitor, pairs duo and fours side.
